When I first learned how to crochet I was 9 years old from my grandma and at first I wasn’t great and had the attention span of a goldfish. I attempted to make a baby blanket for my sister who was about to be born and I got about 5 ” through it and gave up, she’s now 10 and that blanket is still sitting in a box somewhere unfinished. After the baby blanket attempt, I kept crocheting on and off but I didn’t really fall in love with it. I created a facebook page for my crochet when I was about 12 but didn’t really stick with it.

At the beginning of last year, I picked up my hook again and decided to start an Instagram for my crochet business, and shortly after an Etsy shop. This was the moment I really fell in love with crochet. Crocheting opened me up to a huge community of yarn-loving makers who are so amazingly supportive and encouraging. The community crocheting brought me to was so inspiring and uplifting

What is Crochet?

So what is crochet?

The dictionary definition is: a handicraft in which yarn is made up into a patterned fabric by looping yarn with a hooked needle “a crochet hook”

But crochet is so much more to me. It is a way to relieve stress, to express myself, to create anything I can thing of with some yarn and a hook. Crocheting is a hobby, a business, a livelihood. When I spend too long away from yarn I feel like I’m losing a part of myself. Crochet is so much more than something a grandma does, but when I’m a grandma that’s exactly what I’ll be doing too.

Also, I feel like I have to mention crochetingknitting!
