How to Make Dalgona Whipped Coffee

Pin this for later!

Like many others on the internet, after seeing a Tik Tok I decided to try and make some dalgona whipped coffee. My first attempt was a glorious disaster. I accidentally used coffee grounds instead of instant coffee and let me tell you, it did not work… like at all. So I tried again and I figured out exactly how to make it and what works. I made some for myself and my mom and to be honest I felt like a real life barista. Move over Starbucks, here I come! So let’s get into what you need. You probably have all of these things at your home already so stay home, stay safe, and lets get whippin.

I know, I miss my Starbucks too. But stay home and try this at home to help keep our healthcare workers safe.

  • 2 tablespoons of instant coffee– NOT coffee grounds 😉
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of boiling water
  • About 1/2 cup of ice
  • Milk (or almond milk/any other substitute)

So before I get started whipping I get my cup ready. I use a mason jar for my cup and fill it about halfway or a third of the way with ice. Once the ice is in I fill my cup three quarters of the way with milk (you can use almond milk or any other substitute that you prefer).

Once I have this ready I grab a bowl about medium size and I add in the 2 tablespoons of sugar and instant coffee.

Next, I bring a couple cups of water to boil in a pot (I boil extra because you can’t really boil 2 tablespoons of water).

When the water is boiling I measure out 2 tablespoons of it and add it to my bowl with the instant coffee and sugar.

Now you need an electric hand mixer/electric mixer and you are going to beat the mixture for 2 minutes. Make sure that you beat it for 2 minutes so that it gets fluffy and a light brown color.

After beating for 2 minutes you will scoop the fluffy mixture on top of your milk and I like to stir it up with a straw so that the foamy fluffy coffee mixes with the milk resulting in a delicious iced coffee.

It’s as simple as that, 2 tablespoons of instant coffee, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of boiling water, and beat for 2 minutes.

Try out this super simple recipe and you can avoid leaving the house for the fancy coffees I’m sure we’re all craving right now. Also I like to drizzle a little bit of honey on top for a little extra sweetness, and my mom likes hers with a little vodka too. Feel free to add your own spin on it with a drizzle of your favorite syrups such as chocolate syrup or a caramel drizzle and voila! You’re done and feelin’ like a barista with your not-so-fancy but fancy drink!

Trust me, mine didn’t look this good either 😉
